Friday - Love that Paid it All
Walking with Jesus to the Cross — Day 6
This is the hardest day.
Jesus is arrested, falsely accused, beaten, mocked, and sentenced to death. He stands before governors and crowds who choose Barabbas instead of Him. He is led to the cross and crucified.
And as He hangs there, He says,
“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34)
And later,
“It is finished.” (John 19:30)
Not “I am finished.”
But “It is finished.”
The work is complete. The debt is paid. The barrier between God and humanity is broken—as symbolized by the temple curtain tearing in two.
What this means for us
Good Friday is not just about what was done to Jesus.
It’s about what was done for us.
He took:
our sin
our guilt
our punishment
our separation
And He absorbed it completely.
For our church family, this is where everything becomes personal.
You are not forgiven because you’re good enough.
You are forgiven because Jesus paid it all.
That’s grace.
Not earned. Not deserved. Fully given.
One of my favorite poems of all time was produced by Passion Church years ago and it beautifully describes what’s so good about Good Friday.
Read and watch it here. Trust me, it’s less than five minutes long and it’ll move you.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for the cross. Thank You for taking my place. Help me live in the freedom You paid for. Amen.
