Wednesday — When God Seems Silent

Walking with Jesus to the Cross — Day 4

Have you ever had a day where nothing seemed to happen… but everything was actually changing? That’s Wednesday.

The Gospels don’t tell us much about what Jesus did on this day. It’s quiet. Still. Almost like a pause in the story. But behind the scenes, something significant is happening. Judas agrees to betray Jesus for thirty pieces of silver (Matthew 26:14–16). While Jesus is likely resting or preparing, betrayal is already in motion.

And yet—none of this is outside of God’s plan.

What this means for us

This day matters more than we often realize. Because we all experience “Wednesdays” in life.

Days when:

  • God feels silent

  • nothing seems to be moving

  • prayers feel unanswered

But silence does not mean absence. God is still working—even in what we cannot see. For some in our church family, this may be the word you need today. You’re in a waiting season. A quiet season. A confusing season. And it may feel like nothing is happening. But Holy Week reminds us: God does some of His deepest work in the unseen.

Even betrayal… even brokenness… even delay…God is weaving redemption through it all.

Prayer

God, when You seem silent, help me trust that You are still at work. Give me faith in the waiting. Amen.
